10 min 3D video plus 4th dimension movements with chair not worth 27 euro. Very limited displays outside theatre.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the experience did not fully meet your expectations. The full Volcano Express experience includes not only the main show but also our pre-show exhibition area, featuring 8 information and video screens, interactive displays, educational content, and the InstaCrater experience. The full Volcano Express experience lasts 30-40 minutes exploring the full attraction, and visitors are welcome to stay and enjoy these areas for as long as they wish. It’s possible that some of these elements may have been missed during your visit. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

Having done the ‘Fly over Iceland’ which is the same format, the screen moved too quickly and the show was over too soon and left wanting.
Worse still was having to pay for use of the toilets within the venue.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the experience did not fully meet your expectations. While Volcano Express shares some immersive elements with other attractions, it is designed as a unique journey focused on Iceland’s volcanic activity and recent eruptions.
The full Volcano Express experience, including our interactive pre-show areas, educational content, and InstaCrater, lasts 30 minutes, and guests are welcome to spend as much time there as they wish. We appreciate your comments regarding the pacing and length of the show.
Regarding the toilets, we would like to clarify that the facilities within Harpa Concert Hall are managed independently by the venue and are not operated by Volcano Express.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Friendly welcome, but 9 minutes of moving video isn't worth the price. A small video exhibit next door had one out of three screens that wasn't working.

Merci pour votre retour. 🌋
We’re glad you appreciated the friendly welcome, though we’re sorry the experience did not feel worth the price for you. Volcano Express is designed as more than just the main ride — the full experience also includes the educational pre-show and exhibition areas that provide additional insight into Iceland’s volcanic activity.
We also appreciate you pointing out the issue with one of the screens in the exhibition area. That is absolutely not the experience we aim to provide, and we’ll make sure the issue is checked.
An interesting visual experience but a much too short (9 min) performance for the very steep entry price. Price should maximum be half of what it is. And a small kid pays almost as much (18 euro) as an adult (20 euro). A typical tourist trap.

We truly appreciate your honest feedback regarding the duration and pricing. Volcano Express is designed as a short but highly immersive, multi-sensory journey, and we understand that this may not align with everyone’s expectations of value.
We also take your comments about ticket pricing into account as we continuously review and improve our offering.

We’re sorry to hear the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations. 🌋 We understand your point about the duration and pricing, and we truly appreciate your honest feedback. Our aim is to deliver a short but highly immersive and memorable experience, though we recognise this may not feel like the right value for everyone.
Staff were excellent, show experience overall was OK, place was clean and tidy. However it missed the mark, only 9min long, it was more of a kids ride than really going into depth about the history and making of Iceland and how it continues to be shaped by mother nature. A bit disappointing for the price we paid, length of show and content of information.

We’re very pleased to hear you found our team excellent and the venue clean and tidy – that means a great deal to us.
Volcano Express is designed as a short, immersive 4D cinematic experience focused on capturing the power and atmosphere of real eruptions, rather than as an in-depth geological exhibition. We understand that some guests may be looking for a more detailed, museum-style exploration of Iceland’s formation, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective.
Your comments are valuable, and we’re grateful you visited us.

That’s lovely to hear – we’ll be ready for you!
We’re so pleased you’re already looking forward to your next visit, and we can’t wait to welcome you back on board.

Nice experience and staff. But I think it’s overrated ! I mean it was a 10 min or so vedio that didn’t match my expectations or the price paid for it. You can see it but if you did not, your not missing a thing

We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations in terms of length and perceived value. The show is designed as a short, immersive introduction rather than a long-form attraction, but we completely understand that this may not align with everyone’s expectations.
Your comments are genuinely appreciated and help us reflect on how we can improve and better communicate what the experience offers. Thank you again for visiting and for sharing your perspective.
The Volcano Express Team
Very nicely done, great visual and sensorial experience but...
Much too short (just 10 minute but even the promised 15), could do more in explaining geology, steam generation etc.
It felt unfinished, more like a trailer to the real show.
Reply from Volcano Express
Dear Sorin,
Thank you very much for your honest review!
We’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the visual and sensorial aspects of the experience. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the duration and the desire for deeper geological explanation. This is extremely valuable to us. The experience was designed as an immersive introduction, but we fully understand how it can feel more like a preview for those eager to dive further into the science behind the steam, magma, and geological processes.
Your comments are being taken on board as we continue to develop and refine the show, particularly in terms of length and scientific depth.

It’s a cool experience and well done/thought out but it’s very expensive for what is about an 8 minute show, it cost us £36 for two of us. Worth doing if you have the money - I wouldn’t recommend if you get motion sick though.

Dear Stephen,
Thank you, we appreciate your honest review.
Regarding pricing, Iceland is an expensive country in general and Volcano Express price is in line with other premium, short-format cultural and cinematic experiences in Reykjavík, particularly those located in landmark venues such as Harpa. The cost reflects production quality, location, staffing, licensing, and ongoing operational expenses in Iceland.
We are always working to improve the Volcano Express experience and make it longer.
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
Volcano Express Team
Show and activity without much interest.
20 minutes or the images are not superb and the experience is not a success. 20 minutes or the seat moves a little with a more or less warm breath. 20 euros for that no. We made the museum of Perlan which offers in addition to the visit an immersive video much more interesting. And you have the visit plus the ice cave as a bonus. I'm not advising.

Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback.
We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations and that it wasn’t the right fit for you. We understand that Reykjavík offers a variety of immersive attractions, each with a different format, length, and focus, and preferences can vary greatly from one visitor to another.
Volcano Express is designed as a short, high-energy cinematic ride that complements a walk through the city or a visit to Harpa, rather than a full museum-style experience. That said, we genuinely appreciate your comments, as they help us continue to reflect on and improve what we offer. We’re glad you found an experience elsewhere in Reykjavík that suited you better, and we thank you for sharing your perspective.
Warm regards,
The Volcano Express Team
The show and activity were rather uninteresting.
For 20 minutes, the visuals weren't great, and the experience wasn't a success. For 20 minutes, the seat moved slightly, accompanied by a more or less warm breeze. 20 euros for that? No way. We visited the Perlan Museum, which, in addition to the tour, offers a much more interesting immersive video. And you get the tour plus the ice cave as a bonus. I don't recommend it.

Dear Benjamin,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations.
We understand that immersive experiences can be perceived differently depending on personal expectations and preferences.
We appreciate the comparison with other excellent attractions in Reykjavík, such as Perlan. Perlan is a museum experience where visitors can easily spend an entire day, and its higher ticket price reflects the scale and duration of that visit.
Volcano Express aims to deliver a very different kind of experience: one that is more intense, concentrated, and sensory-driven. Rather than a long museum visit, it offers a short but powerful cinematic journey that immerses visitors in the raw energy of Iceland’s volcanic forces through motion, sound, heat, and visual storytelling.
Your comments are valuable to us and help us continue improving. Thank you for sharing your perspective.

Only 10-15 minutes of film with great pictures and videos. Should show more for the money.
The rows of seats shake and you get heat from the "exhaust pipe".
You are not allowed to take photos during the performance.

Volcano Express was intentionally designed to be a short but intense experience, giving you an exciting and immersive taste of Iceland’s volcanic forces in a brief visit. We’re glad you enjoyed the visuals and hope it left a memorable impression!
Warm regards,
The Volcano Express Team
Volcano Express is a unique experience with some very cool visuals, but it ended up underwhelming me. I had just tried out the immersive volcano attraction that Perlan is opening (they are still beta-testing) and found that much better. Part of the issue is the immersion - Volcano Express has a much smaller screen, so you never feel “immersed.” Perlan’s show surrounds you with the video - even on the floor. Perlan’s show also builds a sense of suspense as you descend into a volcano and doesn’t use narration - just limited text on screen - to avoid breaking the illusion. VE uses voiceover narration. VE’s shaking seats and wind effects are cool but I got a couple of hard jolts that kinda hurt! I didn’t find the narration that interesting - nothing educational that the average adult wouldn’t already know. Still, it’s a relatively inexpensive activity and kids will likely enjoy it - it seems pitched at their level - so I’d recommend it for families.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re glad you appreciated the visuals and sensory effects of Volcano Express, and that you see it as a fun option for families. Our short but powerful format is intentionally designed to be accessible for all ages, combining real volcanic footage with motion, heat, wind, and sound to give a vivid taste of Iceland’s nature. We truly appreciate your visit and thoughtful review.
Thank you for your feedback. Volcano Express offers a 4D journey with real volcano footage, the heat of the lava, a cool mountain breeze, and the tremors of an earthquake. The experience is intentionally designed to be suitable for everyone – including guests with motion sensitivity.
The show itself was quite nice, but unfortunately the staff member was very unfriendly. When my friend sat down, his phone accidentally slipped out of his pocket through a gap and under the stage where the seats were set up. Of course, this was just an unfortunate accident, and we even offered to crawl under ourselves to retrieve it. However, the way the staff member spoke to us made it seem as if we had done it on purpose, which felt very unfair. Overall, FlyOver Iceland was a much better experience.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you joined us and appreciate your honesty. While the show is design to ensure it’s accessible to a wide audience, including those with motion sickness, it does focus on real footage from the eruptions on the Reykjanes Peninsula from 2021-2024. The 9 mins show I think it was so-so. The drone scene was no more than we have seen on TV or other websites. The 4D technology added extra layer of experience but it can’t justify the price of the ticket. I wouldn’t go if I could decide again.

Everything you're about to read has happened.
I went to Volcano Express with my girlfriend. This time I have a lot to say.
I think Catalonia is the most beautiful land in the world. And even more so today, September 11, the day of the loss of freedom. I still don't know why I travel everywhere so often. But I do know that I came to Iceland thinking that maybe I would find a corner of the world that was as beautiful as the earth.
If that's true, you won't find it at Volcano Express. It's what Americans call a "tourist trap". What a rubbish place! Although there are some beautiful images, the price to enter is much more than what any Catalan pocket has. Also, the place should be called "trenca cols del infern" because your necks will go to hell.
It's much better to look nostalgically at the embers left behind by a good calçotada.

Overpriced trap. 9 minutes for 30 EUR and really not worth it. Went with my daughters, and even they were not impressed.

Thank you for your honest feedback, Edoardo.
We're sorry the experience didn't win over you or your daughters. The motion-seat ride itself runs 10 minutes, and the whole visit takes 15–45 minutes, as there's a self-guided pre-show with films and an interactive eruption map before the ride. We understand that felt short for the price, and your comment has been passed to the team.
If you'd like to share more about your visit, you can reach us at info@volcanoexpress.is. We hope the rest of your time in Iceland treats you and your family well.

We're sorry to see that you didn't enjoy your visit to Volcano Express.
We'd genuinely like to understand what led to your experience, as your review doesn't mention what fell short. If you're willing to share a little more about what you didn't enjoy, we'd really appreciate it. Understanding what didn't meet your expectations helps us continue improving the experience for future guests ;)
Price is now nearly 4000 ISK. Definitely not worth it for a 10 minute ride. Felt like a total tourist trap.

Thank you for your feedback, Rod. We're sorry the experience didn't feel worth it to you.
The ride itself runs 10 minutes, and a full visit is 15–45 minutes including the self-guided pre-show, where you can take your time with the live earthquake monitor and eruption map. The footage is all real, filmed during the 2021–2024 Reykjanes eruptions.
We're sorry we couldn't give you the experience you were hoping for, and we hope the rest of your time in Iceland treats you well.

It only takes about 10 minutes, and if you're going with 4, I'd have preferred to spend that money differently anyway, in retrospect

Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry the visit left you feeling it wasn't the right choice for your group.
The ride itself runs 10 minutes, and the whole visit is 15–45 minutes, as the self-guided pre-show with its films and interactive eruption map is part of the ticket. We understand that changes how the cost feels, and your point about spending the money differently is fair to raise.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and wish you a wonderful rest of your time in Iceland.

The experience is very expensive for what they offer. It's very short and you leave wanting more.

Thank you for your review and feedback, Maria.
We're sorry the experience felt too short and left you wanting more. The ride itself runs 10 minutes, and the whole visit is 15–45 minutes, as there's also a self-guided pre-show with short films and an interactive eruption map to explore at your own pace before the ride. We appreciate your comments and your visit.

The admission fee is high for a show that lasts a very short time. Not worth the money.

We’re sorry it didn’t feel like good value for you. 🌋
We understand the concern about the duration — just to add, the experience isn’t only the main show. It also includes pre-shows that provide additional context and insight into Iceland’s volcanic activity, which are part of the full journey.
We appreciate your feedback — it helps us improve how we present the experience overall.
Way overpriced. If you have been or plan to go to Perlan, then save you money at Harpa.
Very short timed experience for that kind of money. Iceland is major expensive generally, but this takes the first price.

We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. 🌋
We truly appreciate your honest feedback regarding the duration and pricing. Volcano Express is designed as a short but highly immersive, multi-sensory experience, and we understand that this may not feel like the right value for everyone.
Your comments are very important to us and help guide how we continue to improve.
We hope to welcome you back again in the future and provide a better experience.
Warm regards,
Volcano Express Team
The entire experience lasts only about nine minutes, which doesn’t leave much room for depth.
While the visuals are nice and the effects are noticeable, the overall experience feels quite short and lacking in substance—especially for the price. For something marketed as immersive, it never really creates a sense of being “in” the experience. The show tilts your chair forward and backward to simulate flying over Reykjavík and other parts of Iceland, then shakes it violently while blowing hot air in your face during a volcanic eruption. Beyond that, the only real takeaway is that Iceland sits on a tectonic plate boundary and that volcanoes have erupted—and will continue to erupt.
Younger kids might enjoy the movement and sensory effects, but for most adults, it’s hard to justify the cost for such a brief and limited show.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not fully meet your expectations.
Volcano Express is designed as a short but intense immersive experience, focusing on recreating the power and unpredictability of Iceland’s volcanic environment in a concentrated format. We understand that this style may feel brief or less in-depth for some guests, and we truly value your perspective.
Your comments regarding content and immersion are very helpful, and we will take them into account as we continue to develop and improve the experience. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the visuals and effects, and we appreciate you giving it a try during your time in Reykjavík.
