A superb experience! No need to book in advance. We were able to buy our tickets directly on site. We also learned more about volcanoes, which was super interesting. And it's very immersive. I highly recommend it; it was really great to start our stay in Iceland!

Volcano Express was a fun way to experience the sensation of a volcanic eruption, and the show itself runs a compact 7-9 minutes. We booked our tickets online in advance and showed them at the counter upon arrival. The experience is located on the underground floor of the Harpa building, accessible via escalator and elevators.
Before entering, we watched preview videos that offered some background knowledge on volcanoes, which was a nice touch. Staff then guided us into the cinema in three lines, where each seat came equipped with a seatbelt that needed to be securely fastened before the show began. The experience itself felt more like 4D, with the seats moving and bursts of wind and heat adding to the immersion. It was genuinely fun, though worth noting it may not suit those who are prone to motion sickness.

While it’s only a 15 minute video, it tells all you would want to know about the history of volcanoes in Iceland. Fantastic video is IMAX-quality. Sound system and special effects with the seats and warm air blowing add to the experience. Highly recommend.
That was excellent! Your seats shake, wind in your hair. I would recommend this to everyone, unless you have heart issues.

A great attraction. You can look up close at the volcano. Special effects add to the realism. The staff was very friendly, and we had a Polish lady who explained everything in detail.

Great experience in the lower level of the concert hall building in Reykjavik (Fire and Ice glass one). An exhibition to look at whilst you wait and a chance to photography yourself with different Backgrounds. The main event is in the screening room where you are seated in comfy seats that move so you get the full experience. You fly over Reykjavik and experience going into a volcano and feel heat as you do. The picture and sound quality are excellent and the moving seats fantastic. I would definitely recommend visiting this experience. There are toilets on the level above coating £1.25 (pay be card) in August 2026.

The Volcano Express at the Harpa centre Reykjavik was excellent. The pre show panels are a good audio visual explanation of plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, and show geothermal activity and energy use in Iceland. There is a panel for interesting photos. The experience itself lasts approximately 10 minutes and is very immersive, with heat blowing, shaking and moving of the seats etc. I would recommend this highly

15 minute show, I had to keep reminding myself that it is all actual footage and not CGI.
Back row has more movement than the front and I think every seat is good. I should have allowed myself more than 5 minutes for the small exhibit before the show…10 minutes would have been better, 15 if you like to read all the information.

We were here as part of our AIDA cruise and immediately took the opportunity to visit the Volcano Express. The 4D cinema is truly impressive and definitely worth a visit, especially with children. The tickets are a bit pricey, but then again, everything in Iceland is expensive. It was definitely fun :-)

This was one of the best VR experiences I've ever done. The seats went up and down and shook with earthquake effects. You actually have to seatbelt in! The swoops & dips were equal to any IMAX or Vr I have done. $32 - a bargain considering a simple lunch in Reykjavik is more than that. And in the deal it's at the stunning Harpa concert hall.

A small but excellent exhibition, worth visiting for the 4D cinema alone. Here you have the opportunity to see Reykjavik from above and even dive into a real volcano. Highly recommended, even though it's quite expensive.

A great attraction in Harpa's basement! Volcano Express is a 4D cinema where, thanks to moving seats and real heat, you can literally feel the volcanic eruption. Before the screening, it's also worth checking out the eruption maps and live earthquake counter. Tickets cost 3990 ISK and are truly worth it. This was extremely immersive and entertaining. It’s like a rollercoaster and the seatbelt’s mandatory as you are riding in your seat and flying! The museum beforehand is also very interactive and easy to do!

In the basement of the Harpa bldg. Great fun ride with motion seats, and piped warm air, as you watch the volcanoes errupt and flow. There are informational kiosks while you wait for the next show, every 15 mins.
